How Cometstep protects your school's data

Student records are sensitive. This page lists, in plain words, what Cometstep does to protect them today.

Every school is separate

Each school's data is kept apart. One school can never see another's.

Roles and permissions

Give each staff member only the access they need. Teachers mark only their own classes.

An activity log

Changes are recorded with who made them and when, with the before and after values.

No Aadhaar storage

Cometstep never stores Aadhaar numbers.

Who can see what

You decide each person's role. Owners, accountants, teachers and others see only the screens and records their role allows. A teacher can mark attendance only for the classes assigned to them. When you deactivate a user, their access ends straight away.

Keeping the connection safe

All traffic uses HTTPS. Passwords are stored in a protected form, not as plain text. Repeated failed sign-in attempts are limited.

Your data is yours

The school owner can export the school's data and can ask for the account to be deleted. We keep backups, and we have tested restoring them.

Good habits still matter

Software cannot protect a password that is shared on a WhatsApp group. Give each person their own login, remove people who leave, and keep printed ID cards and registers safe. Our guide on protecting student data in your school lists simple habits.
