1. Who we are
Cometstep (cometstep.com) is tutor, coaching and school management software built in India. It is a product of K Network Live (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have. You can reach us at hello@cometstep.com.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a securely stored (hashed) password.
- Institute and tutor details you enter: your name or institute, board, city and similar information.
- Records you enter for your teaching: students, parents’ contact details, schedules, attendance, fees and receipts, progress notes and files.
- Payment records you enter. We do not take card details or process your students’ fee payments.
- Usage and device data: pages used, device and browser type, IP address and error logs, collected to keep the service secure and working.
- Messages you send us, for example support emails.
3. Students and children’s data
Tutors, coaching centres and schools use Cometstep to keep records about their students, many of whom are children. You decide what to enter. You are responsible for having the consent of parents or guardians where required and for using the information lawfully. We process this information on your behalf and on your instructions.
We never store Aadhaar numbers. Student photos and documents are kept private to your account.
4. How we use information
- To provide and improve Cometstep, including sending verification codes, reminders and receipts you ask us to send.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To answer your questions and give support.
- To send service messages about your account. We will only send marketing with your permission, and you can opt out at any time.
5. Consent and lawful use
We process personal data with your consent or for legitimate uses permitted by India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law. You can withdraw consent at any time, and we will stop the processing that depended on it, subject to legal requirements.
6. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share information only with service providers that help us run Cometstep, such as hosting and email delivery, under confidentiality and security obligations, and when the law requires it.
7. Storage and security
Each account’s data is kept separate from every other account. We use encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access controls and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and data, and we will do so unless the law requires us to keep something. Backups are overwritten on a regular cycle.
9. Your rights
- Ask to see the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or update it.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Withdraw your consent.
- Nominate someone to exercise your rights on your behalf.
- Raise a complaint with us, and with the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
Cometstep uses essential cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. If we add analytics, we will use it to understand how the site is used, and we will describe it here.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new date, and tell you about significant changes. This version was last updated on 13 October 2026.
