What a tuition fee receipt should include

Keep it short and complete. A receipt that has these details answers almost every question later.

  • Your name or institute name and phone number
  • A unique receipt number and the date
  • Student’s name and class, and the parent’s name
  • What the payment is for, such as the month or course
  • Amount in figures and in words
  • Payment mode: cash, UPI, bank transfer or cheque, with the reference
  • A signature or stamp

A simple sample layout

Top: your name and contact details. Right side: receipt number and date. Middle: a line such as “Received with thanks from Mrs. Kumar for Aarav Kumar (Class 9) the tuition fee for October 2026, ₹1,500 (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred only), by UPI.” Bottom: signature.

Tips for receipts

Number receipts in sequence so you can find any payment quickly. Give a receipt for every payment, even small cash ones. Keep a copy, either on paper or as a PDF, and note UPI reference numbers.
